Coming Home to Octagon

03/04/2020

Having been a Weybridge resident all his life, witnessing countless new Octagon homes built in the area, Cliff Cooper had long aspired to buy his own house from the luxury developer.

Discovering a semi-detached four-bedroom home on Octagon’s website, coming soon on one of Weybridge’s most sought-after residential roads, Cliff was quick to put in an offer.

Cliff comments, “I was very familiar with Octagon’s track record for building luxury homes, having visited many of their developments before and seeing first-hand their superb attention to detail and eye for design.  I was waiting for the opportune moment to purchase an Octagon home, and this was exactly that.”

Purchasing the property whilst construction was still underway meant Cliff was able to personalise certain aspects of his new home before completion.

Cliff adds, “It was brilliant to get involved with the process early on, and tailor the property to the needs of my son and I.”

“We were keen that the house felt as private as possible, so we added a small brick wall to the front and rear of the property.”

He also made small changes to the internal layout, moving the plant room – used for storing all electrical equipment for the home – to another floor.

“The plant room was initially on the top floor. We moved this to the first floor and added shelves and rails so that it could double up as an airing cupboard. We’re now planning to convert the top floor space into a sitting room, with views over the front forecourt.”

Cliff continues, “On the ground floor, we have a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, with glass doors that fully retract on to the garden. There’s also a separate reception room which we used as a TV snug, and an integrated garage, where we have added some kitchen cabinetry to create an additional utility space.”

“We were keen to make the most of the large garden, so added paving at the rear, and a shed with water and electrical supply, providing a spot of tranquillity outdoors.”

Cliff adds, “On the first floor is a large master suite with a luxurious fitted wardrobe, and bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bathtub.”

The top floor belongs to his son, where he has his bedroom, a gaming room, kitchenette and further sitting room.

Cliff comments, “It’s great for him to have his own area within the house, where he can entertain friends and have a sense of privacy.”

Enlisting local interior designers, Springbok & Rose, to create a scheme which exudes a modern masculinity, the interiors feature splashes of bright colours alongside neutral greys.

Cliff mentions, “Our goal was to create the ultimate sanctuary to come home to, which we’ve achieved through the architectural style, interior design and high specification fittings and fixtures.”

Octagon’s premium service extends far beyond completion, with the after-sales team on hand to provide comprehensive support.

Cliff remarks, “We have built a close relationship with Laura Armstrong at Octagon – we trust the team implicitly to maintain every inch of the house, from fixing lighting to dealing with any snagging.”

Cliff concludes, “The Octagon service is so much more than just the final product, it’s about the people. I couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgeable, reliable and friendly team to deliver my home. I would absolutely buy an Octagon home again.”
