The Octagon Group welcome Emma Cooper – Head of People

The Octagon Group welcome Emma Cooper to the company as their Head of People, a new position at the Surrey-based luxury developer.

Comments CEO, Tim Banks, ‘As the company has expanded significantly across all sectors, so too has our number of employees, triggering the need for an executive manager who would be exclusively focussed on their needs and well-being. I am delighted to have appointed Emma as Head of People – we are already benefitting from her extensive experience in human resources, and excited about her progressive plans for all our staff members, both at Head Office and externally across all our sites.’

Emma’s career, after gaining a Social Studies degree at Newcastle University, began in an adhesives manufacturer in Manchester as HR Assistant simultaneously studying and gaining the CIPD qualification, essential for any individual wishing to specialise in human resources. From Manchester, Emma traversed to London to take up an HR role in facilities management for international property operators Jones Lang Lasalle, where she also acquired her advanced MCIPD qualification.

Three years later, Emma moved to beauty giant Clarins, taking up the role of HR Manager, where she was responsible for both HQ, regional and retail staff, a role she thoroughly enjoyed.

Most recently, whilst working for a young, highly successful tech company that supported the conveyancing industry, she was approached by Octagon to become their first Head of People.

Emma concludes, ‘This was such a fabulous opportunity to get on board with a blank canvas. I am there to support the future needs of this dynamic independent growing business, to champion the people strategy and lead the development of the culture to enable us to achieve the business objectives.
