Octagon are proud to announce their sponsorship of Parkside Cricket Academy, a local cricket academy which seeks to develop sporting excellence amongst Surrey’s young cricket players.
Established in September 2018, PCA has grown quickly, with over 200 students now attending group coaching and one-to-one sessions every week. PCA caters for all ages and ability levels; children as young as 2 have the opportunity to take part in Kiddy Crix, a course designed to help toddlers develop basic hand-eye coordination. Meanwhile the adults have “Dads in Pads”, a weekly session for parents, some of which haven’t picked up a bat for 20 years! With an ethos centred around “cricket for all”, PCA can prepare any child for a future at The Ashes!
Based at Parkside School in Cobham, PCA draws students from across the county to train at their specialist facilities, inspiringly located within the shadow of Chelsea FC’s training ground. The coaches also visit local schools to help train new coaches and reach-out to new students, and a dedicated coach is helping to encourage more girls to pick up the sport.
Tim Handel, Founder of Parkside Cricket Academy, comments: “We are hugely grateful to Octagon for their sponsorship. Our academy has grown extraordinarily fast, fulfilling an immense appetite for cricket training in Surrey. We would not be able to maintain such a great service if it weren’t for the financial support of Octagon, and we hope that this great relationship continues for the foreseeable future.”
Octagon’s sponsorship includes kits for the players, emblazoned with the housebuilder’s memorable logo, plus water bottles to keep players hydrated. Octagon will also have a presence at the PCA’s major tournaments and awards ceremonies, representing their support for the academy.
Tim Banks, CEO of Octagon, comments: “We are delighted to be supporting Parkside Cricket Academy and enabling them to continue to grow at such a rapid rate. We have been building in the region for 40 years and as a brand and as individuals we are very much vested in the local communities, so were thrilled to have the opportunity to lend our support to such an inspiring scheme. We are proud to partner with an academy that is committed to investing in sporting excellence for the next generation.”
